How to use extra screens
If you use a dock in school, you'll probably have an extra screen to use too.
You can either mirror what's on your Surface on the bigger screen, use the bigger screen as an extra monitor, or just use the bigger monitor.
- To choose an option, plug in the dock and press the windows button + P on your keyboard. This will come up on the right side of your screen.
-
PC screen only = only displays on Surface screen
-
Duplicate = displays the same on both screens
-
Extend = displays different things on each monitor
-
Second screen only = only displays on bigger screen
PC screen only, duplicate and second screen only speak for themselves.
Extend may need some other settings changing depending on the arrangement of docks and monitors in your classroom.
- To change the arrangement of your screens, right click on the desktop and click Display Settings
- You can then drag and drop the images of the monitors to the position they are actually in, so when you move the mouse between monitors, it will move smoothly.
- Click apply and then close the window
To use multiple screens, just pretend you have one big monitor and move programs and documents from one screen to another as if there was no gap between them.
