How to make sure your device is up to date

Your Surface will automatically download Windows updates in the background.

Once updates are downloaded, your Surface will prompt you to reboot your device so the updates can be installed. This will happen outside of school hours.

Once your device tells you there are updates to do, you must let it installed them within 2 days, or the device will automatically install them and restart.

However, you can still manually check for updates. If your device is ever having issues and a restart doesn't fix it, it's worth checking for updates.

To check for updates:

Click on the start menu button

Click on the settings button (cog icon)

Click on Update and Security

Click on the Check for updates button

If your device has any updates to do, it will download them here and you can install them.
